Moral of this sad story: export your feeds to an opml file frequently.I'm using Bloglines, I have no idea what an OPML file is, and I don't care, but having seen - if only from a distance - a whole sector of my life getting amnesia (I'm not blog addict, honest, I could give up tomorrow... just not today!) does anyone out there know how to make Bloglines give me an OPML file! Go into MyFeeds, click the "Edit" link above your feed list and the click the "Export Subscriptions" link in the "Extras" section. Pops up a new window with the OPML in it.
(You could always save the file to disk via right-click on the link).
There are some outliners out there too that use OPML as their native file format - so you can edit the file off line if you don't want to hack the text file (e.g. MyMind for OSX, I think).

Thanks! Stupid of me, the relevant links were off screen (I have Firefox set with biggish fonts), so I'd never seen it, and when I looked there was nothing where I looked... In my defence, I'd just point out that web conventions put such "menu" type items at the top of the screen!
