SansBlogue: Blogger slogger

I know you "all" say that I should move to Wordpress, and I know Wordpress is good, but I have used Blogger for a long time, it like a pair of well-worn trainers to WP's pair of new shiny but uncomfortable dress shoes ;) (Even though I have used WP for the last few months, and will keep the blog about the refugee camp and teaching in Asia there.

But, does anyone else have, or know how to fix the problem of Blogger timing out regularly on publishing. It seems to re-"publish" every file, every time, and for a blog now over five years old that is a LOT of files, and often a lot of timeouts. With messages like:

215 files completed
8M uploaded

and:

Your publish is taking longer than expected. To continue waiting for it to finish, click here.

So, does anyone out there have a fix, except "move to Wordpress"?

I have the same problem. The only way you can solve this problem is by having your domain name with Blogger. When you transfer your domain name, you do not have to publish via FTP.

Or I suppose I could make a new blog on Blogger, with a template that links to the old posts and cheat the system that way. But it seems an unwelcome fudge.

Claude is exactly right -- blogger can host the bigbible domain.

Thanks, guys, BUT:
(i) I do NOT want to move the blog, I put work into getting all those visitors and raising the status of bigBible.org on Google etc. I do not want to move all that to Blogspot!
(ii) I am not keen for a load of extra work just now, so I won't even THINK about moving to Wordpress, I've read the horror stories about the easy to import from Blogger claims! I might still take up my idea (thanks to Claude's comment) and make a "new" blog called Sansblogue at http://bigBible.org/blog, and link in the template to the archived posts from the existing blog... maybe when I am sufficiently frustrated by Blogger to make the time - but sheesh you'd think they would be keen to make things easier for older larger blogs...

I'm not going to chip in with a move to "Wordpress/Movable Type/etc." type comment. And I don't know the answer to the Blogger question.

But...

If you're planning on redesigning/developing the overall site then you might want to look at how the blog fits into that - maybe (at somepoint) a fuller content management system that includes blogging functionality (Joomla? Drupal? etc.) might integrate it all.

If you use Blogger to host, you'll keep the bigbible domain -- so it will be transparent to the outside world.
