Americans are crazy. The average American seems to drink more coffee in a day than the most addicited Kiwi in a week, but it is rubbish. Then this morning I read this post on Lifehacker, the teaser promised: "Cheap Coffee" so I followed the link...It is all about Instant Coffee and some horrendously expensive mug that lets you drink more of the stuff :( Does anyone know if I can get a cup of good (or even halfway good) espresso in the USA, well actually today in New Orleans city centre to be specific?

Oh Tim I feel your pain! I did not find a single decent flat white in the US or Canada. In desperation I even resorted to McCafe, thinking well at least it'll be standardised, but no! Nothing like at home! It tasted of that hideous half and half milk stuff! oh woe, woe, woe.
If you can get hold of a plunger there is some good organic fair trade stuff called something to do with a wolf - howling wolf maybe?
but other than that . . .

Ah, well, I'm now jetlagged in Glasgow, where the coffee is good :) and fairtrade etc. at Sarah's local cafe.
