TV and the Meaning of Life ::

I'm slow on the uptake, the prestigious Slate is behind a venture to bring serious TV on demand to the web. meaningoflife.tv it's called, the idea is to bring "cosmic thinkers on camera" to an Internet connected device near you!

Interview clips from: Lorenzo Albacete, Daniel Dennett, Freeman Dyson, Francis Fukuyama, Owen Gingerich, Joseph Goldstein, Ursula Goodenough, John Haught, John Maynard Smith, Andrew Newberg, Arthur Peacocke, Steven Pinker, John Polkinghorne, Robert Pollack, Omid Safi, Sharon Salzberg, Huston Smith, Brian Swimme, and Keith Ward

Topics like: Being good without God, Consciousness, Death, Direction in evolution and history, Faith and reason, Free will, Limits of science, and Quantum weirdness

There is something for (almost) everyone here, even if they cannot solve questions like "The problem of evil" or "What is God?" to your satisfaction!

Good sound, and good - if small - video, and transcripts for follow-up reading, there are some fine resources here for Theology teachers, now why is there not a Biblical Studies equivalent?

Incidentally their gender balance is way off, with only two women that I noticed among a score of speakers.

Isn't life (under the sun) a bit like that? ::

Tyler had a New Year's post with wisdom from Qohelet, then both Loren @ The Busybody (Wisdom of Ecclesiastes) and Chris @ Higgaion (On Ecclesiastes) posted responses. Chris gives a specially strong argument for his readings of the key terms "under the sun" and הבל but happily Tyler promises not to change his reading too quickly, and hints at a come back.

And all while I am on holiday, and doubtless the crucial posts will come while I am away from the Internet, so do follow directly!

Help needed! (Sitemap with ‹TITLE›) ::

I wonder if any wonderful and kind reader of this blog can help me, I need urgently to create a sitemap of a very large collection of HTML files in a number of directories and subdirectories. I need to include a list of the URLs and the contents of the TITLE tag for each page. The tools I can find to automatically create sitemaps are geared at making Google Sitemaps, so they give the URLs but not the corresponding TITLES. What I need is something like this:
http://bigbible.org/fred/mary.htm   Mary's Page

Can anyone help me with a way to do this, since to do it by hand would take several hours I am willing to buy software if it is not too expensive...

Thanks in anticipation!
