Hi Tim - hope you are enjoying what must be a very tough job of creating the carnival. For me, the month has been relatively quiet - I think northern writers must be bogged down with things starting up. John Hobbins is my chief teacher at the moment - his blogs on the poetry of Bialik are challenging my reading skills. There are also extensive posts on Psalm 68 - with I think some real interest in the difficulty, the onomatopoeia (which I heard in verse 13) and the recent post from Suzanne citing Mary Sydney - trusting you've seen these and blessings to you. My own posts have become a bit lighthearted as I delight in a new version of the diagramming software I am using. I am intrigued with the suggestion of Jerome that the produce of the earth is Messiah (Psalm 67) and my gematric colouring of this psalm shows exactly that the number of those phrases is equal - and also by coincidence the same number I chose at random when I coloured it by hand. (As I said - light hearted).

Hi Tim
glad you're back; hope your holiday was good. Family is something the Lord would not let me try to define in 1994. I am not sure I still could. You notes get me thinking again. I know a family (not mine though mine in the wider sense) that are giving sustenance and stability to two children by adoption. The results after 4 or 5 years appear from a distance to be the best stability these boys have had in their lives. Yet the two Dads would not be able to conform to most Biblical examples. Still, I keep them in my prayers for the difficult road that they have pursued in faith.

As long as you are bonded with God's love -- regardless of your geographic location, color or norm - you can always be regarded as one family.

Mark and I seem (I only write "seem" because although we are now colleagues we work in different institutions and meek but rarely and have not talked about these issues face to face!) to be in profound agreement, but Mark's post presents a positive view that corresponds to and perhaps fills out what I wrote from a more cautious perspective. ¶ 5:48 PM
